Christopher M. Hawkins (Director, Strategic Media and Communications Advice)

Christopher Hawkins coordinates IKUB Consulting media and communications activities with the support of local media professionals in areas in which operations are undertaken.

Christopher Hawkins is a media and communications specialist with sixteen years experience as a radio broadcaster and adviser to heads of government, international organizations and the private sector. Specializing in post conflict and crisis situations Mr. Hawkins has represented the President of the Republic of Nauru during the Tampa Asylum Seeker issue, the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea during the Bougainville Peace Process Negotiations and the Aitape Tsunami disaster.

As a broadcaster Mr. Hawkins began in radio at the age of fifteen in Australia where he worked at a number of Australian radio stations and compiled reports from post-conflict situations including Cambodia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Mr. Hawkins is a recipient of the prestigious British Chevening Scholarship and holds a Master of Science Degree in Global Politics from Birkbeck College, University of London. Research for this degree included field study of news values and journalist attitudes in Jerusalem during the Palestinian Intifada in March 2002, and a comparative study of local and global news values.

An Australian Citizen, Mr. Hawkins currently resides in Singapore while working on a contract with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) process to establish a media capacity at the APEC Secretariat. This program has included a strategy to promote APEC activities through specific targeting of information not only at a global level but also at a local level in each of APEC’s 21 Member Economies.
